A powerful culinary influence
Chef Christian Sinicropi and ceramic artist Catherine Sinicropi played a key role in the introduction and widespread adoption of bespoke ceramics in the world of French haute cuisine.
In the early 2000s, porcelain reigned supreme on prestigious tables, with ceramics not perceived as sufficiently refined or elegant in the culinary art.
Carrying a deep-rooted dream that he has never abandoned, the young Chef Sinicropi took a bold decision in 2005:
he decided to design and use his own bespoke plates.
For four years, he worked in collaboration with the talented artist GLAG to sublimate his culinary creations, which were presented on the menu of the restaurant La Palme d’Or at the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, helping to redefine the aesthetic standards of French haute cuisine.
The media have described his cuisine as “LA CUISINE POESIE”, as we can translate the “poetry cuisine”.
The year 2010 marked a decisive turning point in the development of an innovative concept: that of 'auteur ceramics' in the art of the table.
Driven by boundless inspiration, the chef suggested to his wife that they take another step into the world of art, naturally turning to ceramics. Together, they have created an absolute “Art of the Table”, and more specifically “Art on the Plate”.
Catherine and Christian decided to train at the « École des Beaux-Arts » (Art school), in Vallauris. In less than a year, they acquired the skills needed to develop their first collection, which was used to create the chef’s menus, as well as the prestigious dinner of excellence, during an annual key film event held in Cannes.
Together, they helped change the perception of bespoke ceramics in the world of French haute cuisine, making it an undisputed standard.
Thanks to their influence and pioneering vision, the use of bespoke ceramics in Michelin-starred restaurants is now a matter of course for everyone.
